Description: This video is a combination of two consecutive evening bicycle commutes at roughly the same time of day in New Orleans, USA.
Several elements had to come together for this video to become one of my favorites:
1. Interesting lighting created by the sun just falling below the horizon with notable cloud formations as well as man-made Christmas lighting along Canal Street.
2. The actor and I left work early - near rush hour - on a holiday weekend which created just the right amount of auto traffic to appear dense but most times in motion. Traffic "jams" are not much fun to film.
And finally
3. The actor creates a very smooth image as he rolls through traffic with hardly a break in pedaling rhythm the entire ride.
There are only a few weeks each year in New Orleans when the sun sets just before rush hour, so these conditions and elements all converging at once makes this work impossible to duplicate the rest of the year.
