Currently VholdR Software is only available for computers running Windows XP or Vista. We are working hard to extend VholdR Desktop to all platforms.
In the meantime, for those of you who are Mac based: At this point our camera uses the Xvid codec, which hasn't been fully embraced by the people at Apple and Quicktime. However, the good folks at www.VideoLan.org have developed VLC, a highly capable media player that our own Mac creatives use to play raw camera files clearly and smoothly.
Once you've downloaded and installed the free software, and added the orange traffic cone icon to your applications dock, just download your video files to your computer's hard drive, or an external hard drive, and drag an individual file to the VLC icon. Your video should play smoothly and in full quality.
Now, for those of you really in the know, you're already figured that if Quicktime doesn't play nice with the Xvid codec, then all Mac programs involving video are going to be crippled, from iMovie, right up to Final Cut Pro, because they all use the Quicktime base. That's right. But, there is a fix.
FFMpegX (http://ffmpegx.com) is downloadable shareware with incredible conversion capability. And there are a few other conversion programs capable of bringing our .avi files to Quicktime levels.
