Welcome to the Tips and Tricks Forum for the VholdR camera, software and website. As a company, we know that we can't always think of everything. So, we've set up this forum to encourage you to share anything and everything that you've discovered along the way that you believe has helped make the VholdR a more enjoyable camera to use. This can range from mounting and shooting ideas to video editing software preferences. Let your tips run wild in this forum.

Cool....great idea
I used a Cell Phone Holder to secure the camera to my helmet. It hold the cam very close to the helmet plus offers some padding. I hit a few trees with the camera last race and it never cam off or got damaged.
I also used heavy tape to cover the mic port which helped with the wind noise

I used some twist ties and rubber bands to mount it to my vented mountain biking helmet. It works pretty good, but I worry it isn't the most secure. I was going to try taping a cotton ball over the mic hole.
So as a temporary measure, I've attached some sticky-backed heavy duty velcro to my vholdr (e.g. at Halfords). This has allowed me to attach it to non-solid surfaces (in this case a bush hat, for airsoft). Also, it will allow quickly being able to detach it and stick it on something else for cool shots (e.g. my rifle).
It'd be really cool if we could get/source just the male side of the slider, so as not to interfere with the vholdr itself.
PS: Also used some paracord to attach the vholdr to my clothing, so that if the velcro fails, I don't lose the device.
hey guys. the home mounts are because you're used up the flat surface mount already or it doesn't work right for your application? Also, we're testing the next mounts and they should provide some more flexibility.
what did you guys think of the granthony cam mount?
This is all very cool to see. Keep posting your McGuyver stuff here (with pics when possible).
Granthony cam was sick! I'm not sure what you guys were smoking when you came up with that idea, but it's gotta be good :)
Hopefully get some good footage this weekend, and assuming my hack survives, I'll definitely put up some shots.
Sorry to double-post, but I was thinking about the Macgyver comment :) What would possibly be useful would be if it was possible to buy a mount-kit - basically just the male component/rail that the vholdr clicks onto, with some extra plastic or metal around it. This would allow people to drill holes in the extra material, attach it to whatever components they way, bolt in place, and thus make an adapter which will allow the use of the proper vholdr connector. For example, it would then be trivial to attach the vholdr via a weaver rail, just by bodging together the connector with something like the scope mounts at: http://www.theoben.co.uk/home....
To be fair though, I'm not sure how many people would actually buy something like this, so it's prob not economical.
It's possible the vholdr goggle mount may be usable for that purpose, which may make more sense.
I'll stop rambling now :)
Hahaha, King, great comments and I think I follow your line of thought. I can't say we'll do anything like that be your opinion certainly counts. Thanks!
The Granthony Cam was an idea that just came to me and Graham Watanabe while we were eating dinner in Park City.
I made an offhand comment, like, "Wouldnt it be nice to have a camera rotate 360 around you?"
Graham said, "Yeah, like on the end of a stick or something."
We chewed for a second but then looked at each other.
"Home Depot,"
I want to make more of them, but just haven't had the time aside from editing a lot of sic footage from VholdR trips. But if you guys make enough fuss, we'll make the Granthony Cam I'm sure!

"Yes. No. I am."
I agree with King_tut's thoughts on VholdR making the "rail" brackets available so that we can screw them onto other mounting points. I would buy half a dozen of them.
Cheers.
