VholdR is now the official wearable camcorder of the Gary Semics Motocross School. Gary Semics, a world-class motocross instructor, will be using the VholdR to improve his school’s ability to capture and review students’ progress.

Through point of view video analysis, VholdR adds a strong teaching element to Semics’ program.

“Using VholdR, instructors can critique the lines that riders take into corners, how they approach jumps, and when they brake and accelerate,” Gary Semics says of the partnership. “Showing riders their mistakes through video helps us target weaknesses and improve them more efficiently. Seattle-based VholdR makes action video easy to shoot and share

Seattle, WA (July 21, 2008) – The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) today announced VholdR, a wearable, hands-free camcorder, a 2008 bronze medal winner of the coveted design award. In a partnership with Ziba Design, an internationally recognized design firm, VholdR went beyond just a camcorder to make action video as simple as a single button to record and a single click to share the video online.

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition is a celebration of the most innovative and exciting product and product concept designs of the year and one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. Business Week and the ISDA selected VholdR out of 1517 entries from over 25 countries. Thirty-five of the entries were awarded the coveted Gold award, while 77 received Silver awards and 93 won Bronze awards.

Drum roll please…..the next version of VholdR Desktop is now launching! The team has been drinking plenty of Mountain Dew and spending their weekends to bring you a new version of VholdR Desktop. Our job isn’t done yet, until we have a Mac and PC solution that makes video sharing easy, but we’re significantly closer with this next version of VholdR Desktop. Here are all the great new features and improvements we have made!

New Features

• Progress Bar with a Queue: now when you upload or download multiple videos there is a queue that shows you the progress of each video and gives you a complete or failed notice so you know what happened.
• Folder Tree: we now have an easy to use folder tree so you can add and delete video folders
• File Size and Time: under the thumbnail of each clip you will now see the file size and the length of the video. Therefore you know how big the clip is before you share it to VholdR.com
• Location Metadata: the location metadata field now matches the Map It functionality on VholdR.com
• Share Icon: any shared videos to VholdR.com will now have a small icon so you can remember what you have and haven’t shared

Improvements

• Installer: we have a single installer now that installs all the Xvid code and .NET in a single shot. Woohoo!
• Progress Bar: you can see we’re quite excited with how this experience has improved
• Folder Speed: we have ramped up the folder response time, which should make VholdR Desktop much faster
• Drag and Drop: yep, now you can drag and drop video files between folders
• Selecting: selecting videos is much more consistent
• A Drive: no more checking of your A Drive (some of you know what we’re talking about here)

What’s Next: We’re not even close to being done yet. We’ll be launching a “pretty” version of VholdR Desktop in the coming weeks that matches the great functionality with a bit of style. We’ll keep you posted on our progress.
